From Here to There

Well our precious time at the lake is coming to a close. Golf, sun, lake, reading, swimming, and good food are being traded in for the more tedious task of packing. Here are some photos to capture the wonderful time we had!

Shades of Yellow and Gray

"Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again..."
Okay, the rest of the lyrics to that song don't really apply.... and we aren't leaving on a jet plane. BUT we are driving my little car, packed with two pups (who, ahem, may be slipped puppy sleeping pills) up the east coast to our new home in Boston (don't worry family, you know where our true home is).

I have been using these photos of our apartment that I posted back in April to figure out what furniture and decor will best preserve the small space we will have in our new home. We have mainly resorted to taking furniture that will stand against the walls and give us the most storage, leaving some open living space.

While perusing the interweb for ideas (yes pinterest played a major role) to transform this little corner of Cambridge to a place of our own, I have fallen in love with all shades of mustard, yellow, and gold! Shout out to my sweet friend Charlotte for introducing me to this lovely color. I must preface this with the detail that while we were apartment searching, natural light, windows, and charm were a deciding factor in our search (after location and pet-friendly of course). I think I have this hidden dread that a Boston winter will leave our place gloomy and gray, so I am doing my best to redeem our nest with some natural inner beauty before winter hits! You may be seeing some of these sweet lovelies making an appearance....

4th of July

This is a little late, but I thought I would share some photos that captured how Hudson and I spent fourth of July. Beware that my side of the family likes to do a red-neck theme with this holiday, so if you see cut off tees and bedazzled visors, it was all part of the plan.

I'm Back!

Most of the things in the former post have been accomplished, well I guess I shouldn't say most, but enough for us to take a deep breath and reach some level of normalcy during these times as nomads. My parents are graciously letting us camp out at their lake home while we tie up a few odd ends and wait for movers to come. So..... that leaves me, the hubs, and the pups at the lake for two weeks! We have precious family and friends coming to visit throughout, but in the mean time we are enjoying a little respite.

The current "to-do" list includes:
reading books
cooking: foodgawker has been inspiring
finding a job
decorating from afar: Pinterest please
studying for boards
resting

Moores on the Move

Sit, hands on keys, type, share.

I feel like the simple things of life such as blogging, eating well, working, sleeping, reading, resting, and exercising have been traded in for the demands of moving 1,108 miles away (yes I g-mapped it). In the next month I will finish graduate school, Hudson will finish his current job, I will take my boards and look for a job, Hudson will start graduate school, we will get rid of half of our stuff, move across the country, sell one car, figure out school loans, buy a few pieces of furniture, bring other furniture back home, and be in a sweet friend's wedding.

whew, deep breath.

So please bare with me as I scramble between now and then to find some balance of routine in this new limbo of life. As for now these kidos are helping me focus on the more simple things :)

Date Night with the Duggars

Before sharing all of the details of last night's double date..... I have a confession to make....

I am a Duggar-Lover, Yes, the show 19 Kids and Counting, I am ALL about it! Hudson and his family gave me their first book for Christmas The Duggars: 20 and Counting! and I would highly recommend it for anyone who is married, raising children, seeking financial freedom, or interested in homeschooling. When I share this I usually get a couple of comments, so I thought I would go ahead and preface with the following.

Don't you think she has too many kids?
Michelle and Jim Bob have a LOT of kids! No doubt about it people. She is one fertile Mertle and God has blessed them with many a mouth to feed. BUT, who is to say how much is too much and how little is too few? Would you ever approach a woman with no children or one child and tell her she doesn't have enough? Hopefully not! Likewise, would you ever approach a large family and tell them that some of their children aren't supposed to be here, or shouldn't be here, or that they are too much.

Sadly our culture sees children as a cost, a burden, and sometimes an inconvenience, but God sees children as a blessing. Psalm 127:3 says, "Behold children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward." Sometime people's decisions don't make a lot of sense to the outer world.

"God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7

Okay, stepping off of the soap box.

Why do you like them so much?
If the Lord blesses us with kidos one day, I have often thought about how we would raise them and educate them. Rearing babes that love the Lord and live to bring Him glory.

I want to teach a daughter to realize her worth and beauty not by how the world sees beauty but as a daughter of the King. I want to raise a son to be a humble leader equipping him to be a man of God. I want our family no matter how small or big to sing the Gospel in all that we do and realize our deep deep need for Jesus. The Duggars are an excellent example of how the Gospel permeates every area of their life. If you can get past how grand a number they are, you can learn a lot from how they live, how they spend their money, how they make decisions, how they nurture their marriage, and make special time for each child.

So anyways, we went to the local Barnes & Noble bought their new book, A Love that Multiplies, and then got it signed by all of the Duggars :)

Check out their website for some great family resources: http://www.duggarfamily.com/

Oh silly Josiah. Michelle was so sweet and took the time to talk to me about homeschooling and family conferences.
