Growing up

Hello there dear reader-friend! Today marks a milestone as I feel a little more grown up today. Yes, I know what you are thinking, "Annie, you are grown up! You have a poochon, a cockapoo, and live with a man!" Yes, I know dear friend, but nothing has really made me feel quite as grown up as purchasing my first rug, make that TWO rugs!

Since making our own little home two years ago, we have been graciously loaned beautiful furniture from family and friends. Pieces that we are SO thankful for! If we hadn't had these things we probably would have been watching tv on beanbags and sleeping on the ground. But now we have TWO grown-up rugs, that WE bought. Not borrowed, not handed-down, but brand new, being shipped to us, picked out for our home. College kids don't have nice new area rugs, non-grown-ups don't have area rugs...... we have two new area rugs and are now grown up.

I am anxious to show you these two beauties but I think I will wait for the big reveal when they are home in our new crib. Think warm, bright, cozy, and inviting. Stay tuned!

From Here to There

Well our precious time at the lake is coming to a close. Golf, sun, lake, reading, swimming, and good food are being traded in for the more tedious task of packing. Here are some photos to capture the wonderful time we had!

Shades of Yellow and Gray

"Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again..."
Okay, the rest of the lyrics to that song don't really apply.... and we aren't leaving on a jet plane. BUT we are driving my little car, packed with two pups (who, ahem, may be slipped puppy sleeping pills) up the east coast to our new home in Boston (don't worry family, you know where our true home is).

I have been using these photos of our apartment that I posted back in April to figure out what furniture and decor will best preserve the small space we will have in our new home. We have mainly resorted to taking furniture that will stand against the walls and give us the most storage, leaving some open living space.

While perusing the interweb for ideas (yes pinterest played a major role) to transform this little corner of Cambridge to a place of our own, I have fallen in love with all shades of mustard, yellow, and gold! Shout out to my sweet friend Charlotte for introducing me to this lovely color. I must preface this with the detail that while we were apartment searching, natural light, windows, and charm were a deciding factor in our search (after location and pet-friendly of course). I think I have this hidden dread that a Boston winter will leave our place gloomy and gray, so I am doing my best to redeem our nest with some natural inner beauty before winter hits! You may be seeing some of these sweet lovelies making an appearance....

4th of July

This is a little late, but I thought I would share some photos that captured how Hudson and I spent fourth of July. Beware that my side of the family likes to do a red-neck theme with this holiday, so if you see cut off tees and bedazzled visors, it was all part of the plan.

I'm Back!

Most of the things in the former post have been accomplished, well I guess I shouldn't say most, but enough for us to take a deep breath and reach some level of normalcy during these times as nomads. My parents are graciously letting us camp out at their lake home while we tie up a few odd ends and wait for movers to come. So..... that leaves me, the hubs, and the pups at the lake for two weeks! We have precious family and friends coming to visit throughout, but in the mean time we are enjoying a little respite.

The current "to-do" list includes:
reading books
cooking: foodgawker has been inspiring
finding a job
decorating from afar: Pinterest please
studying for boards
resting

Moores on the Move

Sit, hands on keys, type, share.

I feel like the simple things of life such as blogging, eating well, working, sleeping, reading, resting, and exercising have been traded in for the demands of moving 1,108 miles away (yes I g-mapped it). In the next month I will finish graduate school, Hudson will finish his current job, I will take my boards and look for a job, Hudson will start graduate school, we will get rid of half of our stuff, move across the country, sell one car, figure out school loans, buy a few pieces of furniture, bring other furniture back home, and be in a sweet friend's wedding.

whew, deep breath.

So please bare with me as I scramble between now and then to find some balance of routine in this new limbo of life. As for now these kidos are helping me focus on the more simple things :)
